Black Girls Brew Cooks: Brown Ale Cheese Dip

It's that time again! Below is a recipe sure to make any Super Bowl party a success. Pair it with a nice Chocolate or Imperial Stout and you'll convert any person to a beer lover.

Brown Ale Cheese Dip

Ingredients:

8 oz. Brown Ale (I used Newcastle, drink the other 4 oz. and get started early, you can also use a dark lager like Amberbock)

16 oz. cream cheese

8 oz. sharp cheddar cheese

1 lb. browned and crumbled sausage (Jimmy Dean, regular) (subsititue hot breakfast sausage, or sweet Italian but NEVER maple flavored)

1 cup diced jalapeno (for an extra kick, if you can't do heat, substitute for 1/4 cup jalapeño and 3/4 cup poblano)

1/2 cup diced onion

1 teaspoon paprika

1 large package Blue Corn Tortilla Chips

Directions:

Brown and crumble the sausage. Remove from the pan. Sautee the jalapeño and onion in the fat rendered from the sausage until soft. Add the beer and warm through. In a pot, add the cream cheese, sharp cheddar and beer mixture over low heat. Heat and stir until cheese is softened. Add crumbled meat and serve with tortilla chips.

*Tip - Make it easy on yourself and toss everything in a crockpot for 45-60 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
